Words and phrases

For the last couple of weeks I have been selecting words and phrases from the postcards and printed matter in the museum collection as raw material for collage. I have tried to create some space around the words in order to allow them to stand out. I have done some test prints and cut-outs. I was thinking about the objects that had ended up on site here and how they had come to be here. I was working with the word “funf” –German for five. The word was from an old Rentenmark –the German currency printed during the period of hyperinflation between WW1 and WW2. Some visitors came in –both lived in Germany and one was a German native: quite a coincidence. They spotted that the piano was also German. I had never noticed that before.
